Editing lesson blog

Hey guys today my class and I had a mini lesson on editing. We basically learned how to operate the different parts of the camera and how to properly hold it. For starters, Ms.Katz started her lesson by informing us on the different rules when it comes to checking out a camera. One of the major rules is that we must checkout a camera by using the paper and we must return the camera the next day. After explaining the checkout procedures we learned about the parts of the camera. I learned how to : open the camera, how to turn it on and off, how to enter and remove a SD card, and how to flip the camera to face me or the opposite of me. Ms.Katz also went over how to correctly connect the camera to a tripod. There is a circular button that you twist on the bottom of the camera and after you hear a clicking noise then that means it is on properly. Once the button is on you secure it onto the top of the tripod. The tripod has cool features. For example, there is a lever that can be twisted to extend the height of the tripod.
Another thing that I learned today was how to work pinnacle studios. I understood the gist of it but it's still a tad bit confusing to me. I will explain the steps of how to dumpin. Dumpin is basically dumping all of your footage into a folder to edit in the future. Each group has to use the same computer and every time a group uses the computer they have to use the same 06 number that they used before. Once pinnacle studios is open you will right click and open up a folder. You want to make sure that the SD card is inserted. Click on the DCIM folder and you'll see all of your recorded footage ordered by the date and time that it was recorded. Afterwards you dumpin all of your footage from your SD card.
Lastly, I learned about the importing process which is basically just importing all of your footage into pinnacle studios. You get to click on the videos that you want to use for your editing process but you should use all of them. Once you click the videos you want you can edit them by cutting the clips or adding in transitions. Some transitions can be fades or dissolves. This is what I learned today and I hope to learn more.
